Restrictions without running Poledit


If you want to make restrictions to what users can do without having to running Poledit, changes can be made directly to the Registry.
This will allow you to make a REG file with the specific restrictions you want and importing them all at once.

  1. Start Regedit
  2. Go to HKEY_Current_User / Software / Microsoft / Windows / CurrentVersion / Policies
  3. There should already be at least a Explorer Key
  4. Additional keys that can be created under Policies
    • System
    • Network
    • WinOldApp

You can then add DWORD values set to 1 in the appropriate keys

In the Explorer key you can add:

  1. NoDeletePrinter - Disables Deletion of Printers
  2. NoAddPrinter - Disables Addition of Printers
  3. NoRun - Disables Run Command
  4. NoSetFolders - Removes Folders from Settings on Start Menu
  5. NoSetTaskbar - Removes Taskbar from Settings on Start Menu
  6. NoFind - Removes the Find Command
  7. NoDrives - Hides Drives in My Computers
  8. NoNetHood - Hides the Network Neighborhood
  9. NoDesktop - Hides all items on the Desktop
  10. NoClose - Disables Shutdown
  11. NoSaveSettings - Don't save settings on exit
  12. DisableRegistryTools - Disable Registry Editing Tools - NOTE: Be Careful of this one
  13. NoRecentDocsHistory - Removes Recent Document from Start Menu - Requires IE4
  14. ClearRecentDocsOnExit - Clears the Recent Documents when you Exit
  15. NoInternetIcon - Removes the Internet Icon from the Desktop

In the System key you can enter:

  1. NoDispCPL - Disable Display Control Panel
  2. NoDispBackgroundPage - Hide Background Page
  3. NoDispScrSavPage - Hide Screen Saver Page
  4. NoDispAppearancePage - Hide Appearance Page
  5. NoDispSettingsPage - Hide Settings Page
  6. NoSecCPL - Disable Password Control Panel
  7. NoPwdPage - Hide Password Change Page
  8. NoAdminPage - Hide Remote Administration Page
  9. NoProfilePage - Hide User Profiles Page
  10. NoDevMgrPage - Hide Device Manager Page
  11. NoConfigPage - Hide Hardware Profiles Page
  12. NoFileSysPage - Hide File System Button
  13. NoVirtMemPage - Hide Virtual Memory Button

In the Network key you can enter:

  1. NoNetSetupSecurityPage - H
  2. NoNetSetup - Disable the Network Control Panel
  3. NoNetSetupIDPage - Hide Identification Page
  4. NoNetSetupSecurityPage - Hide Access Control Page
  5. NoFileSharingControl - Disable File Sharing Controls
  6. NoPrintSharing - Disable Print Sharing Controls

In the WinOldApp key you can enter:

  1. Disabled - Disable MS-DOS Prompt
  2. NoRealMode - Disables Single-Mode MS-DOS
