Control Your Menu Drop Down, and Start Button Cascade Delay Speed

Warning: Always Backup your registry before makeing changes!

You can set the speed of the delay before a menu drops down in Windows 95? You can practically make the menu appear instantly if you'd like. Here's how.

  1. Click the Start button
  2. Select the RUN menu
  3. Type in REGEDIT and hit  Hkey_Current_User\Control Panel\Desktop
  4. Right click in a blank area on the right side of the Registry Editor
  5. Click "New" then "String Value"
  6. Type in "MenuShowDelay"
  7. Double Click MenuShowDelay
  8. Type in the length of time you want for the delay from 0 for no delay to 100000. Be careful, setting high numbers like 100000 is not recommended because it will take over a minute and a half for the menu to display...the numbers represent milliseconds.
  9. Click OK.
  10. Restart Windows 95 to have these changes take effect.

Or download the Reghack here.

NOTE: After merging the Reghack you must reboot Windows
